A 21-YEAR-OLD chef has been shortlisted for a prestigious industry scholarship scheme.
Blackburn-born Lewis Gallagher, commis chef at Stanley House’s Grill on the Hill, in Mellor, is up for the the Acorn Scholarship, which aims to seek out talented individuals within the catering and hospitality industry.
Lewis was due to present to a high-profile panel of judges which includes top restaurateurs Michael Caines and Christian Armstrong.
The winner of the scholarship will get a £2,000 bursary, regular coaching sessions and a trip to one of Europe’s top restaurants.
Lewis said: “It’s great to be recognised as a chef with ambition, and being shortlisted gives me a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate how much I would like to further my career in this sector.”
