POTENTIAL foster parents in the Valley are invited to an information evening on December 4.

Rossendale Children and Parenting Support Service is looking for dozens of new carers for more than 100 children on Lancashire County Council’s waiting list.

Social workers will attend the event to share their experiences.

A spokesperson for the county council said: “The county council acts as the ‘corporate’ parent for about 1,400 children and young people from birth to the age of 18. All of these children and young people need homes where they can feel wanted, safe, and secure.

“Because they – and their needs – are so varied, we need a large variety of foster carers we can place them with.”

The open event is from 7pm to 9pm at the support service’s base in Newchurch Road in Rawtenstall.

Anyone unable to attend the evening can express their interest by contacting the county council’s fostering recruitment team on 0800 195 1183.
