STUDENTS were taught what life was like as a soldier in the Great War during a special visit.
Shuttleworth College in Burnley welcomed Pendle-based expert Scott Knowles, who spoke to year 9 students about the Great War and his family’s involvement.
Scott created the company, The Tommy Teaches, and he tours schools and colleges dressed in full World War One uniform.
Two relatives of his were killed and his grandfather was badly injured in the Great War.
He started the day talking to Year 8 students within their assembly on the importance of Remembrance Day.
He then spent the rest of the day with groups of Year 9 students explaining what life was like in the trenches.
These interactive sessions allowed students to try on the uniform, packs and helmets.
