NEW figures show the number of 16 to 18-year-olds starting apprenticeships in the North West has fallen by 14per cent. There were 3,330 fewer places created in the region in 2011/12 compared to 2010/2011.
Numbers also fell in six other regions, and across England by 3.2per cent.
