Festive food help on way for Lancashire's hungry

First published in News

HUNGRY people in Lancashire will be given a help this Christmas by Co-operative Food, ITV1’s Daybreak and the Salvation Army.

The You Can Help campaign will be launched on Monday, and aims to collect as many cans of food as possible in one week, with a target of a quarter-of-a-million cans.

Everyone can help by buying an extra can during their weekly shop and donating it at collection points.

The cans will be distributed to people in need in each region by the Salvation Army as part of food parcels and food for lunch clubs and winter shelters.

Collection points will be in place from Monday until to Sunday, December 2. Acceptable cans include meat, fish, vegetables, soup and fruit.

A list of participating stores will be available from Monday at www.co-operativefood.co.uk/ youcanhelp.

We all know that there are people who need help not just at Christmas but all year round. People in this country are getting poorer, free food shops are opening all over the country.
So why ho why does this Government give BILLIONS of £'s to other countries. Charity begins at home, only last week I heard of a family that on a Saturday night had no food to feed their 3 children their money not spent on fag's or booze they just didn't have any.
A friend went out and bought food for this family, who was too proud to ask for help, but for the children being hungry the mother would have stopped this friend from buying them food and was so grateful when they did.
PLEASE give to this charity and send an e.mail to your MP's to call on this Government to stop giving our tax money away to countries abroad but look after the poor people of this once great country. None of our MP's will starve this coming year they claim for their food on their expences.
