Why is that odious creep Jack Straw blaming the fact that it is November for the low turn out in the polls?

There is a low turn out because nobody gives a shiny **** about who is elected as Police Commissioner - basically a job for the boys position that will have little or no influence on how individual areas are policed.

It will also be interesting to see the number of spoiled votes (I think they are initially included for the purposes of the reported 15.5% turnout figure.)

So, are elections for the police commissioner good or bad, Jack ? Get off the fence. If they are, why didn't Labour introduce them?

Overall turnout 15.5% No candidate received more than 50% of the first choice votes. This means that Mr Grunshaw has been elected by less than 7.75% of the electorate. This cannot be regarded as a mandate for him, or any other candidate, and makes a mockery of the whole sorry process. And yes, I did vote.

Did you see Prescotts face! Priceless!
Jack Straw? Is anyone interested in what he has to say? Answers on a post card please! I hope that the new police commissioners have a zero policy on illegal drugs and those that sell them! The death penalty please for dealers in death! is the way forward. Once a drug dealer always a drug dealer, leopards do not change their spots,

Excluded again says...

The introduction of the Police and Crime commissioners has cost the taxpayer around £100 million. This is enough to employ around 3000 police officers.

Since this government came to power 5000 police officers have lost their jobs as a result of cuts to police budgets. Most of these police officer jobs could have been saved if the government had not chosen to introduce PCCs.
