DRUGS were found at a property in Blackburn following a major police operation.

Police swooped on Pankhurst Close at around 6.30pm on Saturday following reports of ‘suspicious circumstances’.

An area was cordoned off next to a block of flats and officers were carrying out door-to-door enquiries during Sunday.

Crime scene investigators were spotted going into the building and police have now confirmed drugs, believed to be amphetamines, were found inside.

Det Chief Insp Sion Hall said: “We attended the address and found a quantity of drugs inside a property.

“No arrests have been made. Inquiries are continuing and we urge anyone with information to contact police.”

One resident said officers had been outside for around 13 hours.

“We are scared of living here if crime is happening,” she said.

“We did not know what was happening, but we knew it was serious.”

Another said: “It was a bit of a surprise when the police came knocking. It is not something that normally happens.”
