What's on: The Maitlands, Oswaldtwistle
AN historic economic slump is the backdrop for Oswaldtwistle Players’ spring production.
The Maitlands follows a family as it leaves the glamour of London for life in a deadly, dull seaside town.
A family formerly used to extreme wealth, the Maitlands are not coping well with the downturn in their fortunes during the 1930s.
Players secretary Clare Highton said: “Each member of the family, and the people who come into their lives, are trying to hold on to something, whether it is money, success, social respectability, a wife or a lover.
“Relationships are tested to breaking point in this witty period drama which resonates with many themes that are still relevant to life today.”
The play runs at the Civic Theatre, Oswaldtwistle, from April 25 to 28, at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £8 for adults, £7 for concessions, with all seats £6 on opening night.
Call Accrington Town Hall on 01254 380293 or the Civic Arts Centre, Oswaldtwistle, on 01254 398319 to book.
