The Urban Culture Jam Festival returns for a second year on August 29 at Accrington Skate Park.
The youth art, music, fashion and sport event has been entirely organised by youngsters from Clayton-le-Moors Youth Club.
This year the extended programme will see them work with international artists, DJs, MCs and beat boxers. Dutch street artist Zedz is to create a large-scale installation to be used for ‘free running’ — a form of urban acrobatics. French graffiti artist Eric Hoang has also been brought in to create a project to be revealed on the day.
The event is part of Blaze, a youth-led culture and sport programme delivered with Lancashire County Council.
Sara Domville, Blaze programme manager, said: “Last year’s event attracted so many people, so we decided to have much more on offer this time.”
18-year-old James Green, a Blaze young producer from Clayton-le-Moors youth club, said: “We’ve been working hard to make it bigger and better than last year.
“We’ve added a lot more urban sports to the day and it’s been wicked working with Zedz on the graffiti model.”
* The Blaze Urban Culture Jam Festival is at Accrington Skate Park, Ormerod on Monday, August 29. 12pm–6pm.
