COMPETITORS from around the globe will flock to Ramsbottom on Sunday for the World Black Pudding Throwing Championships.

Television presenters from CBBC will be at the event to watch contestants knock over giant Yorkshire puddings using Bury’s favourite food.

People of all ages are invited to try and dislodge the highest number of puddings off a 20ft high plinth with six black puddings.

Last year, the trophy and £100 cash prize was won by welder Huseyin Ozluk, aged 40, who knocked off nine puddings.

Comedian and actor Paddy McGuinness also made a guest appearance but only managed to topple over three.

The annual Pudstock music event takes place in the pub car park from 1pm until about 10pm, featuring local bands.

There will also be stalls and plenty of activities, as well as the vintage vehicle gathering exhibition.

* World Black Pudding Throwing Championships takes place on Sunday, September 12 from 11am outside the Royal Oak in Bridge Street, Ramsbottom. For more information, contact Bury Tourist Information Centre on 0161 2535111.
