VIDEO: Standing ovations for Little Voice Diana Vickers

DIANA Vickers has been winning standing ovations every night on the West End stage.

The official ‘first night’ is tomorrow but the past two weeks have seen her wowing audiences at the preview performances.

With her fresh-faced beauty and amazing singing style, East Lancashire’s former X-Factor star is proving to be a hit in her acting debut in Little Voice, at the Vaudeville Theatre.

Show publicist Kevin Wilson said: “The show is going incredibly well.

“She has had a standing ovation every night and on the first night it was eight or nine minutes long.

“She’s coping really well and is making everyone else feel very tired.

“She is half the age of other members of the cast. Diana is being very careful. She is getting lots of rest, eating well and doing all the right things.

“She’s not a trained actress and has been very sensible.

“It has been amazing and wonderful for her.”

The 18-year-old from Huncoat has the lead role in Jim Cartwright’s tale about a shy girl who lives with her mother and impersonates some of the world’s great divas, including Judy Garland, Edith Piaf and Shirley Bassey. The ex-Westholme student co-stars with Lesley Sharp and Marc Warren, who are known for Clocking Off and Hustle respectively.

As I was saying!!
A coach full of Diana's schoolfriends are travelling down to see it in a couple of weeks - should be a great day out and possibly the longest standing ovation!

How does her mother get time off work to go and watch Diana vickers in the show ?
Diana vickers can't sing like Shirley Bassey or Lulu, with the voice she has. Her voice is not strong enough to take on these roles, she has a very weak and annoying voice that is never in tune, and this is probably why Simon Cowl didn't want her. Quite honest i am shocked that she was auditioned for this part.
She needs to come down to earth and realise that she will never be good enough to be famous.
She seems to me that she tries to push herself ontop people to try and get into the celebrity world.
we haven't seen the bad critics about her yet.

Wow, oaks 7, you obviously think you know more than the theatre critics who have acclaimed her for her role in LV, more than Simon Cowell who put her in the Xfactor and said she was 'special', more than the 250,000 fans on facebook who think she has an amazing voice. I think the person that needs to come back down to earth is you. This girl has worked very hard to get critical acclaim. The critics were naturally against her like many people. As this girl is from Lancs, I find it astonishing that people from her region do not support her and go on websites just to make silly remarks like yours, which just smack of envy.

sla, London - I couldn't have put it better myself. Unfortunately some people up here are so full of venom it is untrue.
However, some of us are right behind Diana and recognise that she is a star!!!

Thank you totally. People from Lancs should be proud. This girl is getting standing ovations every night and has won over critics who were waiting to shred her to bits. I also had my doubts about the quality of her voice for the role of LV (I am a fan of the original) but if you hear her live you will realise what a powerful and versatile voice she has and that the TV did not do her justice. She also can act and brings a fragility to the role of LV which is enchanting. I can't believe that all she has achieved still isn't enough for the vipers to go back in their box. We are all entitled to an opinion but as the good saying goes 'if you can't say something nice you shouldn't say anything at all'.

We never had any doubt that Diana would pull this off - as she did in performances at school. She can sing and act and I think Oaks7 needs to face the fact that Diana is famous, she is successful and try to remember that she is still someone's daughter pursuing her dream. Leave her to it!
Also as far as time off goes - I am having a whole week off...its called annual leave - how amazing is that?

Oak 7 is someone that is known on a post section of a website as a troll. So let us leave her to her confused, pathetic ways.
I will say one this though-

I saw the show on Sat and Diana wasn't good. She was amazing.
If people don't like her natural singing voice, fair enough. But nobody could ever say that she cannot sing, not if you've witnessed her sing Shirley Bassy better that Shirley Bassy.

Diana hasn't recieved a bad review, not one. Well, apart from credulous, unqualified, vacuous people that could only dream of having a little talent. Sadly, they don't have enough talent to pay the bills busking.

Oh well, there's always their 9-5. Enjoy.
