KASABIAN leader Tom Meighan reckons their impersonators Kazabian are so good he wants them in one of the band’s videos.

“I’ve been keeping tabs on them for a long time,” said front man Meighan. “They’re absolutely frightening, they’re terrific.

“When they started out on the road someone told me about them and I went on their website to check them out.

“I was like, ‘Blimey – they’d mimicked everything perfectly. It was uncanny.

Meighan added: “Their characteristics are bang on and their Serge Pizzorno (guitarist) is so good.

“I’d love to see them play in our videos – and it might happen one day.”

The real Kasabian closed last year’s Glastonbury on the Pyramid stage and their copyists top the bill at one of Britain’s biggest tribute festivals – Glastonbudget – next month.

Before that, though, Kazabian return to the county with their pounding beats and guitar driven choruses in time for their third appearance at Clitheroe’s Grand Theatre next Friday night.

“It is great to hear Tom saying that, and we’ve not given up on the dream of meeting them,” said tribute drummer Lee Bulfield.

“Kasabian are amazing live, and it is something that every rock fan should see if they get chance.

“They are the best band in the world and have an epic sound.

“But most of all, though, their style, music and light show is constantly evolving, so we’ve got to keep tabs on any changes so we keep our shows bang up to date.

“Clitheroe is an ace venue, and we’ll be playing all the big songs – Reason is Treason, Club Foot and Fire – we want to make it a night to remember.”

The rock doppelgangers have also performed with Olly Murs, Pendulum and Ocean Colour Scene and Lee, whose love affair with Kasabian began when he saw them perform at Hull University, added: “There’s a lot of snobbery on the tribute scene, but I don’t see anything wrong with playing another band’s music to fans who might not be able to go and see the real thing at a bigger venue because the gig is sold out or they can’t get there.”
