Going to Tesco for a meat feast pizza and a curry should not replace an hour of badminton.

But this week, sadly, it did.

It was one of those days where my boyfriend and I couldn't be bothered, so a 'chuck it in the oven/microwave' tea was perfect, and didn't feel quite as naughty as a full-on takeaway.

He fancied a large pizza (£2.69), I was in the mood for a chicken madras (reduced to £1.34, usual price £2.60) We got both from the chiller, and added a packet of mini poppadoms (28p), chilli lime pickle (£1.89) and spicy mango chutney (89p) as well as some chilli parathas from the freezer (£1.25).

The thing with supermarket 'fast food' is it’s often speed over content; sauces can be too thin and tasteless, pizzas sometimes dry and uninspiring.

But these were actually better than expected. I didn't get my first choice of a prawn curry, but the chicken in the madras was tender and tasty.

The sauce also had lots of flavour and although not as low fat as making your own, it wasn't swimming in grease either.

Andrew polished off his pizza pretty quickly too, the only jazzing up it needed was some black pepper.

It's not restaurant quality, but it’s not restaurant prices. All things considered, it was cheap, quick, tasty food.
