SOMETIMES it’s all in the name.
You are heading home and you pass a takeaway called The Codfather — and you simply have to stop.
It’s the law.
So I decided to give the Burnley takeaway a go and went in wondering what to expect.
Naturally, with a name like The Codfather you would expect plenty of fish — or an Italian mobster with spelling issues — and fish did feature quite heavily on the menu.
There was a 16 ounce piece of cod for £7.45 lurking deep down the list of dishes so, me being me, I decided on a kebab (I did salad the other week in this column and it attracted complaints).
A few minutes after ordering I was handed a mixed grill kebab on naan bread and after handing over less than £4 I headed off to get stuck into what was my tea.
While it wasn’t the best kebab I have ever eaten (there have been so many down the years), it was nowhere near the bottom of the Donlan chart and I would quite happily pay another visit next time I am passing.
I might even go for the big fish on my next visit.
