The Ned Pinot Grigio 2011, £9.99, Sainsbury’s.
The Ned is a 909 metre peak towering above the fields of vines in New Zealand’s Marlborough Valley famed for its Sauvignon Blanc wines.
Pinot Grigio is a rare white for this part of the world but like it is much tastier stuff than many of the Italian varieties.
Strong floral and pear flavours and alcohol at 13.5 per cent.
Not cheap but still good value.
