The Pilgrimage referred to is the famous trek across Northern Spain centred on the city of Santiago de Compostela.
The wine is made with Mazuelo grapes, a variety better known under its French name of Carignan.
This is a rustic, country wine with intense flavours of raspberry, cherry and spice.
It is strong (14%) but pleasantly free of the oak that afflicts many Spanish wines.
Great with lamb or duck and very easy on the pocket.
