IT’S official. Boys will be boys, no matter how old they get.

Twenty-year-old Immy Jabar opened the doors of ‘Worldwide Tyres’ on Stansfeld Street, Blackburn six months ago and has revealed that his best customers are young drivers.

“We provide all services under one roof including exhaust repairs, tracking and battery changes. We want customers to be able to get everything in the one location.

“We also tint windows and change the colour of the car. We also stock a huge range of competitively priced tyre brands.

“Customers have left their cars with us for over a month at a time. We transform them from a standard car into something that is quite unique.

“Cars are a personality statement as well as a symbol of wealth and status.

“Luxury car trends have changed. It is no longer about leather and walnut interiors.

“People like their cars to be blingy externally. You only have to go Wimslow Road on a Saturday night to see that.

“We provide the recession friendly way to having that car that stands out.

“Customers do their own research and know exactly what it is they want us to do to their cars. We will custom make them.

“One car arrived to us in a standard silver colour and left bright red. It really stands out. It looks fantastic!”

It’s no simple feat starting up a new business in this stringent economic climate.

And it is the small to medium businesses that will play a key role in the recovery of the economy.

Jabar revealed: “It is definitely hard work owning your own business. You end up working all sorts of unfriendly hours.

“If someone calls you because their car has broken down or if they have a flat tyre at 4am, you get up to go and help them immediately.

“I have learnt a lot in the process.

“I broke away from the family business and decided to open up my own business.

“It was a big risk, but my family were very supportive. And with hard work, this risk has paid off.

“We are looking to expand within the next year so we can provide all types of mechanical and engine work for our customers.”

As for that stereotype about boys and their toys?

“It’s a well deserved stereotype! Proof of that is Blackburn Car Cruise.

“This is a big event locally. There’s one meet coming up next week. Up to 400 people attend.

“We get so many requests before an event like this from boy racers who want to transform their cars into something unique and personalise them.

“They want their cars to be high-specification.

“We pride ourselves on the ability to create something different.”
