Al Murray seems to have become an overnight success in his own happy hour.

But am I the only one who hates his character, the Pub Landlord, who now presents his very own chat show, Al Murray's Happy Hour?

Now correct me if I'm wrong but I'd say this character is the kind of person you are more likely to make every effort to ignore rather than spend any time with, let alone an entire hour.

Put it this way if he was the landlord of my local pub I think I'd start drinking somewhere else. Every aspect of the character's personality is irritating, maybe that is the joke, it's ironic, but it does nothing for me.

He is the chauvinistic and proud Brit who believes that Brits are superior to others with his catch phrases such as "Where would we be if we did not have rules? France. Where would we be if we had too many rules? Germany."

Did this type of humour not stop being funny a long time ago?

It has been said if you are a fan of Harry Hill's style of comedy, then you will love Al Murray. I don't agree at all, Harry Hill is funny and he does not try to impersonate an overweight beer slugging slob for some sort of comic effect.

Save yourselves the torture, switch over to Jonathan Ross instead!
