YOUR wedding day is supposed to be the biggest day of your life so why on earth would you invite a TV crew along and let Nick Knowles make all the arrangements for you?

The Big Day, on BBC1, is the latest example of a reality programme too far.

It was just about all right to let Mr Knowles get involved to try and fix botched DIY jobs but weddings are a completely different affair.

He could at least make the effort to look a little less like an unmade bed.

No doubt he believes 'designer stubble' is good but if someone had turned up to my wedding looking like that I'd have felt a little upset they hadn't made more of an effort.

I don't know if the couples get paid for allowing TV to take over their day or whether they just get everything laid on for free.

Certainly weddings are ridiculously expensive, I think the last survey put the average cost at over £12,000, and you perhaps understand the temptation to get everything done for free.

But in years to come will the couples really feel it was worth it?

Call me old fashioned if you like, but to me a wedding should be a time of celebration for family and friends not just something to fill a gap in the schedules.
