THE first piece of ground has been cut to mark the start of the Orchard Grove new homes development in Darwen.
Staff and board members from Twin Valley Homes were joined by staff from construction firm Wates Living Space, councillors and Blackburn with Darwen Council officials to mark the start of the project.
The development of 95 new homes will revitalise the Queen Street, Hindle Street and Vale Street areas and is named after Orchard Mill, which stands nearby.
The site will feature a mix of four, three and two-bedroom properties along with two-bedroom bungalows, with a flexible range of options for purchase and for rent.
Building will be in three phases and the homes will feature the very latest green technology.
