Well done to Abbie Walker who came runner up in an NHS Northwest competition, ‘Respect You – why be like the rest?”
The competition, which was open to all 13-19 year olds in East Lancashire, asked entrants to create a viral video highlighting the views of risk taking behaviour in young people.
Abbie, an ex-Norden High School student, was made aware of the competition by her Media BTEC teacher. While she realised it would be hard work doing all the filming and editing herself around her exams and coursework, she thought it would be an ideal opportunity to add to her media portfolio as she aims to study TV Production at university.
Abbie said, “The main reason I entered the competition was to strengthen my UCAS application and to show at my university interviews. Coming runner up was a big surprise and a bonus!”
Her film, along with the second runner up and winner, will be shown in schools across the North West to raise awareness of risk taking behaviour.
