BACK in 1966, the then Mayor of Burnley invited eight youngsters to the town hall, after they raised vital cash for his charity.
During his year in office, Ald John Parkinson opened a kidney machine fund and these young friends added £7. 15s to the total.
They are, from left to right, front row: Terry Gidley, 10, of Radnor Avenue; Gordon Brown, nine, of Denbigh Grove; Keith Dobson, 10, Sycamore Avenue; Ian Gidley seven, of Radnor Avenue and John MacAlpine, 11, also of Radnor Avenue.
On the back row are the girls: Pamela Ridge, 12, of Gainsborough Avenue; Lynn Robert, 13, Reynolds Street and Sally Anne Pilling, 12, of Glen View Road.
