GETTING engaged and arranging their wedding day are important landmarks in any girl’s life.

So many of you will have fond memories of going out with your loved one, to buy the sparkling ring for the third finger of your left hand.

You will have looked in the windows of all the local jewellers’ shops to find the one for you.

So, how many of you bought your gold rings from the Little Diamond Shop in Blackburn, many years ago?

The business, which was run by J W Turner, could be found at 3, Higher Church Street.

This was one of its adverts in the Northern Daily Telegraph, way back in 1950, when it boasted it had maintained a reputation for its diamond engagement and wedding rings for more than half a century.

Indeed, the business has been established back in 1897.

In this advert it offered engagement rings from £7 and 22 carat wedding rings from five guineas.

It also told customers that its reputation for good reliable watches had also stood the test of time.
