A PACKET of old family photographs is waiting to be claimed at the Lancashire Family History and Heraldry Society.

It was left behind some months ago by someone who had been using the research centre’s facilities at 2, The Straits, in Oswaldtwistle.

Now the society is appealing for the owner, who was presumably tracing their family tree, to claim the five images.

There are five photos showing different individuals – four dating back to the early 1900s, and another from around the 1940s.

Each one is a professional studio photograph taken by East Lancashire photographers A & G Taylor, of Blackburn, Leslie Shawcross, of Blackburn, and J.W.Tattersall, of Accrington.

Above is one of the photographs in the bundle, which shows a young boy in all his finery, velvet knee breeches, shirt with lacy ruffles, and buckled patent shoes.

Society volunteer June Dowling said: “The pictures were left behind some time ago and have never been claimed. Maybe Looking Back readers can now help.

“We would like to reunite these wonderful pictures with their owner, so if you recognise the young boy and think the photographs may be yours, please contact the society on 01254 239919.”

Alternatively, the centre is open to the public every Thursday afternoon, or the first Saturday afternoon of every month.
