Olympic table-tennis star Kelly Sibley was a smash hit at Blackburn Rovers’ latest business networking event, which was attended by over 50 local businesses looking to make new contacts.
Rovers’ New Business Development Manager Danny Davis held a question and answer session with Kelly, who competed at the London 2012 Games.
Kelly, who is the current GB number one, told the businesses about how she first started in the sport, as well as the highs and lows of being a professional sportsperson, from early hip operations to winning a bronze medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
She was quizzed about the limited funding available for the sport and explained that the England Ladies Table-Tennis team currently have to raise most funds through sponsorship and hard work.
Kelly is now training for the 2018 Commonwealth Games, which will be held in Australia, where she hopes to secure a podium finish.
Everyone at Rovers would like to wish her the best of luck and we look forward to seeing her back at Ewood Park again soon.
