FRED (ALWYN) BLOOMFIELD Died January 25th 2018 We are sorry to announce the passing of Fred Bloomfield on January 25th. He was 89 years of age but forever young at heart. Fred was a colourful local figure in Darwen. He was often seen walking his Jack Russel and later in life tearing around the town centre and market on his mobility scooter. Formerly a psychiatric nurse, a child care worker and a social worker, Fred retired 30 years ago and settled down in a small home on Nancy St, dedicating his life to his art. He won the admiration of all who knew him as a friendly, caring person who always gave time to troubled youths. His later days were spent at Spring Bank Court and Springfield Care Home in Blackburn, where he was cared for with love by all the staff but especially Kee Dalton who was wonderful. Fred will be fondly remembered by his 2 children, Julius and Marcus and his many friends, especially Peter and Liz Fisher. A service will be held at Pleasington Crematorium on Friday, February 16th at 10.45am.
