BEING an Evertonian, Lukas Jutkiewicz is someone whose career I have kept an eye on.

When you’ve got managers like David Moyes chasing you at an early age then that bodes well.

Unfortunately he wasn’t able to make the breakthrough at Everton.

But he has had purple patches at a couple of clubs he has been at, and was a popular player at Bolton Wanderers during his loan spell last season.

At 25 he is in a position now with age and experience where he needs to start stepping up and delivering the goods.

Under Sean Dyche’s guidance he could be one of the finds of the summer, like Scott Arfield was last season.

And being a striker he is a welcome addition to the squad. I’ve said before you can never have too many strikers and hopefully the manager can work his magic on a player with bags of promise.

The ability is there, it’s all about what you can get out of a player and Sean has a good track record in just a short space of time for that.

He takes rough diamonds to add the finishing touches to make them sparkle. Although he didn’t sign Sam Vokes he certainly got the best out of the striker last season and Jutkiewicz is in a similar mould, not only in their size and stature but also their careers.

Both have been well travelled in the early days but Sam found a home here, got settled and his career has been able to progress with the benefit of that stability.

The Juke, as he is fondly known by supporters, has the same capabilities. He is not as powerful as Sam, but he has got the size and movement to cause one or two problems.

Whether he can do that in the Premier League remains to be seen, but I certainly wouldn’t argue with the manager’s judgement.
