A WOMAN has been taken to hospital with leg and chest injuries after a suspected hit-and-run in Darwen.

Police said a 19-year-old woman was found unconscious in a car park off Foundry Street at 12.45am this morning.

Two men, age 19 and 20, have been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving in connection with the incident.

A 19-year-old woman, also from Darwen, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving. All are currently being quizzed by detectives.

Those arrests came after police found a Citroen C1 car in Victoria Street, Darwen.

The injured woman has been taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital for treatment. Her injuries are not described as life-threatening.

A police spokesman said: "We were called around 12.45am today following reports of an incident in Foundry Street, Darwen.

"It was reported a car had been involved in a collision and driven off.

"Officers attended and a girl was found at the scene unconscious with suspected leg and chest injuries. She was later taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital for treatment.

"Following enquiries, police later located a Citroen C1 car in Victoria Street and arrested three people.

"Two women aged 19 and 20 from Darwen were arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.

"A 19-year-old woman, also from Darwen, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving. All are currently in custody."
