A KINDHEARTED youngster has had her waist-length locks chopped off to help other children less fortunate than herself.

Little Rian Daly, who is just four-years-old, decided she wanted to donate her hair to others after hearing about children who have lost their own hair through illness.

Supported by her family the selfless youngster, who lives in Croft Street, Great Harwood, had around 16 inches sliced off her hair at Hairworx hairdressers in Rishton.

The pint sized youngster has now donated the loose locks to the Little Princess Trust, which makes make wigs for children who have lost their hair through cancer or other life limiting illnesses.

Rian, who has just started school at Great Harwood St John's Church of England Primary, had been growing her hair since she was born, and has only ever had three visits to the salon. Rian’s mum Nai, 31, said about her daughter’s reaction to the drastic change: “She was fine, she loves her new haircut.

“She had it done because wanted to start swimming and I said she needed her hair cutting.

“I told her I’d found this charity that you can donate hair to, and in her words, she said she wanted to give it to little boys and girls who have no hair.

“She likes it shorter, I think she’ll keep it as it is now.”

The youngster’s grandmother Janet Ramsden also went with her to the salon for moral support and loves her new look.

Little Princess Trust has already given away more than 2,000 free wigs to poorly children.

Rian has also been sponsored to undergo the chop, and has already raised almost £150 for the Little Princess Trust.
