Bingo players from across the UK have been playing against each other all summer, hoping to win tickets to board the luxury liner, and Lynda, who lives in Hoghton, was one of the lucky few to scoop the prize.

She will be taking along her sister Ann Spellman, 59, and the pair will be flying out to Palma in Majorca in October to board the ship.

Once on board, they will embark on an all-inclusive, seven-night cruise stopping at some of Europe’s top destinations, including Villefranche and Toulon in France, Livorno and Rapallo in Italy and Barcelona in Spain.

Their ‘home’ for the week will be the Thomson Dream, which features four restaurants, six bars, three lounges, a nightclub, beauty salon, casino and West End-style entertainment.

Lynda and Ann will be welcomed onto the ship with a champagne reception, and they will also enjoy three dedicated Gala Bingo sessions in a private room during the cruise.

Lynda has been playing the game at her local club for more than 10 years where, three or four times a week, the whole family gather to spend some quality time together.

She said: “It’s brilliant, absolutely brilliant.

“I must admit, I’m not a fan of cruising, because I’ve had some absolute disasters in the past, but I’ve been talked round, and I’m looking forward to it now.

“I’m looking forward to just getting away, and having a nice relaxing week.”
