FIREFIGHTERS adopted this cute terrier on Christmas Day after it was found wandering the streets.
An off-duty firefighter, Gordon Mitchell, spotted the pet outside St Mary’s College, Blackburn, at around 9am and took it to the station.
Efforts to reunite it with its owner by knocking on doors in the area and reporting it to police failed, so the dog was christened Stan, and spent the day with fire crews. It was later taken to Aspen Valley Kennels in Oswaldtwistle where staff hope its owner will soon claim it.
Dave Hilliard, acting watch manager at Blackburn station said: “It’s a lovely little dog, very lovable and playful, with a red collar. It looked as though it had come out of somebody’s house.”
