Kyle McFadzean missed out on the Blackburn Rovers squad against Portsmouth due to illness whilst a deal to join Chesterfield remains in the balance.
A deal was expected to be wrapped up early this week but negotiations are still ongoing in regards to the finances involved. It had looked like a done deal over the weekend but there are still details in the deal to be ironed out.
McFadzean was pictured in training on Monday and was expected to be on the bench on Wednesday night. However, he was absent with the club citing illness as the reason.
The 37-year-old wants to increase his game time, having not started a game all season. He is from South Yorkshire and lives close to Chesterfield, who want to strike a deal.
Rovers had seemed willing to allow that to happen but, as things stand, a deal has not been formally agreed. The deal was expected to be a season-long loan with finances split between the two clubs but that is now in contention. McFadzean is out of contract at the end of the season.
Dilan Markanday has returned to Blackburn Rovers despite not being formally recalled. The expectation remains that he will join Leyton Orient, likely to be confirmed this week.
