Burnley have added Borussia Monchengladbach defender Jordan Beyer to their defensive ranks hours before the transfer deadline.

The 22-year-old joins on a season-long loan and can play both as a centre-back or on the right of defence.

Beyer has been with the German club since 2015 and has also represented Germany from Under-15 to Under-21 level.

He also had a loan spell at Hamburg during the second half of the 2019/20 campaign, and made 17 appearances in the Bundesliga last season.

"As soon as I heard of the interest in the deal, I drove straight to the airport, I just wanted to get here straight away,” he told the club’s website.

“I am just so happy it has all worked out and it's all done, I can't wait, honestly."

The Clarets also brought in Turkish international Halil Dervişoğlu on loan from Brentford earlier today.

Vincent Kompany added: “We would like to thank Borussia Mönchengladbach for allowing us to take Jordan on loan for the season.

“He’s a centre-back with speed and quality on the ball, that has been educated at one of the finest academies in Europe.”

Burnley are back in action on Friday night when they head to the Hawthorns to take on West Brom in front of the TV cameras.

Kompany’s men are currently third in the Championship table following back-to-back wins against Wigan Athletic and Millwall.
