I have read with interest the letter from Graham Archer in the Citizen, Wednesday, January 4, (Council Should Remember Market Is Our Prime Asset).

Graham often writes letters to the paper and I am one of the first to admit he has some good ideas, but he obviously likes Chorley, otherwise why does he stay?

I have lived in Chorley for 40 years. Chorley is quite simply a wonderful place to live.

I have been a councillor for 15 years and have the privilege to be the present deputy mayor.

I represent East Ward and have worked hard to try to help people who live in the ward.

Everyone I have helped is always most grateful and quite simply the people of Chorley are the salt of the earth.

During my time on the council I have been involved in helping to make some very difficult decisions, eg. charging for car parking, implementing the pedestrianisation of Market Street, installation of CCTV cameras, and the appointment of the council's superb neighbourhood wardens.

Graham, please stop knocking the council.

Why don't you stand for the council and use your expertise to help the town?

I have made many friends since coming to Chorley. I am a member of Chorley Cricket Club, Chorley Tennis Club and taught at Albany High School for 25 years.

Come on Graham, why not send all your good ideas to our new chief executive and give us all some help in making Chorley an even better place to live and work and stop knocking this wonderful town.
