A PRESTON charity is inviting people to come along and have the time of their lives at a one-off fund-raising event.

St Catherine's Hospice on Lostock Lane, Lostock Hall, will be holding a charity weekend full of exciting events starting on Thursday September 14.

Ex-rugby international Gareth Chilcott will be attending the Sportsman's Dinner on the Thursday night, along with ex-FIFA referee Neil Midgely and comedian Jim Bright.

And revellers can dance the night away on the Friday night to music of the 60s and 70s with 'The Merseybeats' -- voted the number one 60s live group by readers of 60s magazine, The Beat Goes On.

On Saturday visitors can enjoy top local soul band 'Switchback', with other classic soul favourites, as well as a traditional disco.

And the final evening of the weekend sees the arrival of the Last Night of the Proms, with the world famous 'Wingates' brass band.

All events take place in a giant marquee at Fox Lane Cricket Club, Leyland, and tickets cost £7.50 each, available from St Catherine's Hospice on (01772) 324540.
