THE Bacup Consortium is forging ahead with ideas on how to spend the £4.75million Single Regeneration Board money recently awarded to Bacup and Stacksteads.

Tricia Brindle, consortium chairman, said: "At our last meeting we invited members to sign up to one of the Task Groups set up to take forward some of the ideas that came out of the previous brainstorming sessions."

Tricia was pleased that over 40 people turned up at the first Task Group meeting.

Five Task Groups have been set up: Bacup In Bloom, Festivals and Fundraising, Kids Group, Publicity and PR, town Centre Makeover.

All Groups meet on the first Wednesday of the month at 7.30pm at Bacup Cricket Club and any members are welcome to join in.

The next Consortium meeting will be held at Trinity Baptist Church Hall, Bacup from 10.30am to noon, on Saturday, November 11. Task Groups will present an update of the planned Consortium activities. New members will be welcome.
