TWO local sports teams are cheering at the news that they have been awarded community chest cash grants from the Action for Haslingden partnership.
Members of the B team at Attock Cricket Club have received £250 towards equipment costs and ground hire.
The 16-strong squad of mainly teenagers celebrated a successful first season in the Accrington League last year but needed financial help to continue.
Team captain Sail Suleman said: "We are very grateful for the grant as it helps to keep us going financially."
The team was runner up in the B Division last season.
Young members of the Rossendale Valley Football Club are looking forward to their first entry in the Festival of Football event at Blackpool thanks to a £149 grant.
The award will pay admission fees for the under 12s team which has a 15-member squad.
The nationwide festival held over the May Day Bank Holiday weekend attracts scores of teams. Under-12s manager Nick Brierley said: "The grant is excellent news as it means we can enter the competition for the first time."
