OVERCAST weather didn't stop the crowds turning out to the 28th Ramsbottom Festival Of Sport held at Nuttall Park, Ramsbottom.
In recent years the event had adopted more of a country show format but this year the emphasis was firmly back to sporting roots.
Stephen Pollitt, publicity officer, said: "We are very pleased with the way the festival went. Last year we had problems with one of our main access points being closed.
"This year with the football in the main arena and the tug o' war and record entries nearby, we think we are getting the formula right.
"The funfair as always was a great attraction for adults and children alike."
This year for the first time cycling was introduced with time trials from Holcombe Brook up Lumb Carr Road.
The Sports Council meets monthly at Ramsbottom Cricket Club.
Anyone interested in joining Ramsbottom and District Sports Advisory Council RADSAC can telephone 01706 825373 or 01706 829045, and help in organising next years festival.
