BLACKBURN and other parts of East Lancashire were hit by the outbreak of foot and mouth disease at Kearsley in Bolton.
Movement of livestock within a fifteen mile radius of Kearsley was banned by the Ministry of Agriculture.
Bacup Rotarians began their tree-planting campaign at Bacup Cricket Ground.
The 20 trees were of a tough variety, Hornbeam and Norwegian Maple.
