BURY Sports Development and Bury Sports Club organised and hosted this year's local Kwik Cricket Tournament, which proved to be a huge success.

With volunteers assisting from Bury College and the Sports Club, eight teams from all over the Borough fought it out to emerge eventual champions.

Primary schools included St Pauls, Park View, Elton, Guardian Angels, Greenmount, Gorsefield, St Lukes, and St Andrews (Ramsbottom).

They were randomly drawn into two groups of four, and then proceeded into the later stages which enabled all teams to play five games on the day.

With four games ongoing and with no team sat out waiting, the day was enjoyed by participants, staff and spectators alike.

The final was fought out between Greenmount and Park View Primary Schools.

Greenmount batted first and finished strongly, hitting 20 runs off the last two overs, setting Park View a target of 251-3 to beat.

Park View set about achieving the result with a consistent run rate, and with the addition of two spectacular overs, hitting a pair of sixes in each of them.

They won the competition with a score of 259-1.

Park View now go on to represent Bury in the County Final at Old Trafford on June 30.
