PRESTWICH Cricket Club walked away on cloud nine from the presentation night of the Lancashire County League last Friday.

The Heys Road club received nine accolades at the event, held at Lancashire CC, where Essex captain Ronnie Irani was guest speaker.

The first team picked up the long-awaited first division trophy, 97 years after its last league triumph.

The second team were presented with the Hulme Trophy, after winning the cup for the third successive year.

The first team were also named team of the year, and the second team won the leagues last six competition.

The club also won the fair play award.

Chris Humphreys was voted player's player of the year, as well as being the league's leading amateur wicket-taker with a haul of 84.

Second team wicketkeeper Gareth Barnes won the award for most victims in the season, while second team scorer of the year was awarded to Richard Isaacs.

The championship-winning side is set to lose two of its players next season, as teenager Alex Blake has signed for Northern in the Liverpool Competition, and Paul Mercer is taking a break from the game.
