IT WAS a laugh-a-minute at the Manchester Jewish Community Care's annual raffle draw.

Comedian Jimmy Cricket was the special guest at the Nicky Alliance Day Centre to select the winning ticket.

The raffle has been hailed a huge success, raising £14,350 which will go towards buying vital equipment for the centre situated in Middleton Road.

Members who are visually impaired, disabled or elderly will benefit from the equipment.

Fundraiser Shelley Blackston said: "We are delighted with the result; it has broken all records."

A first prize of £500 was won by Mrs Lucy Parkes of Altrincham and other prize winners were Mrs Ada Marcus, Mr C. Ordman and Mrs L.Lapidus.
