Blackpool Air Show: Line up, Red Arrow times and road closures

The programme will showcase the very best in British aviation with an incredible line-up of amazing flying machines and some of the country’s most talented pilots. 

Aerial performances from the Red Arrows, The Red Devils and beyond have been planned.

Some warnings have been put into force related to parking and various road closures while the air show is on.

The anticipated Red Arrows will perform on both days of the air show at the Blackpool Air Show.

The air show will run from 10am until 5pm on both days and the event is free.

There's action in the air, but there is also plenty happening on the ground.

Located on the Tower Festival Headland, the air show village offers plenty to see and do with a range of stalls, attractions and food concessions.

Will Red Arrows fly over other parts of Lancashire?

If you aren’t attending the air show itself you still might be able to see the Red Arrows fly past.

On Saturday, the planes are estimated to set off from Blackpool at 1.38pm, going out to sea before cutting back inland and along the coast down to Southport, before going back out to sea and down to Llandudno in North Wales, according to Metcheck.

They will then fly back east along the Welsh coast, coming back into England near Crosby and through Ormskirk.

They will then return to Blackpool at around 2.28pm via Blackburn and the northern edge of Preston. 

On the Sunday, the Red Arrows will follow the same route, starting at Blackpool at 4.38pm and returning at 5.28pm. 

They are estimated to be in Belmont at 4.55pm. 

The first half of the Red Arrows' display consists of synchronised, formation aerobatics, followed by a more dynamic second half. 

Road closures

the Promenade will be closed to all traffic between Chapel Street and Springfield Road each afternoon during the Air Show. Diversion routes will be clearly signposted. The tramway will also be closed in this area and operating a split service from North Pier and Manchester Square.

Bus routes along the Promenade are being diverted, and tram stops at the Tower and Central Pier will be closed between midday and 6.30pm

Visitors may experience significant traffic delays on the M55, M6, and M61 while approaching Blackpool.

It’s set to be a fine day with sunny intervals changing to cloudy by early evening.

Highs of 20°C and lows of 15°C. Wind gusts could reach speeds of 31mph.
