Lancashire Fire and Rescue have warned parents after a group of young people started a fire in a nature reserve, just 100m from a wildlife fire warning poster.
Padiham Fire and Rescue responded to a fire in the nature reserve, in which temperatures reached 150 degrees.
Crews have asked parents to educate their children on the dangers of open fires.
A spokesperson said: “Parents please educate your children on the dangers of open fires. You are never quick enough to put it out if it gets out of control. This will spread quicker than you can respond.
“Yesterday we responded to a fire in this nature reserve created by youths who fled the scene on our arrival. The temperatures of the embers were in excess of 150 degrees. The fire was within 100m of our wildfire warning poster.”
