A video, which shows an escaped emu roaming the streets of East Lancashire, has gone viral.
Phil Manicolo took a video of the emu leaving Bury Road, leaving Rawtenstall in the direction of Edenfield, on Monday (January 29).
The video shows an emu slowly walking down the road. Shortly after, a car speeds past the bird.
Others reported seeing the bird at the Rawtenstall roundabout.
Phil said: "Anyone lost an Emu? I got out and tried to get it into a field for safety.
"He let me give him a little stroke on his back and then he carried on running down the road. Hope it gets back home safe.
"I've muted the video because my language, at the learner driver who didn't slow down for it, wasn't great."
The video has been shared more than 181 times, since being posted.
One commenter said: “Unbelievable.”
Another commenter said: “The emu looked at the learner car in utter disgust at his driving and then gave chase.”
A third commenter said: “Mirror, signal, manoeuvre, EMU!”
Another social media user spotted the emu. They said: “Has anyone else just seen an ostrich/emu on the road running at Rawtenstall roundabout? Or have I completely lost the plot?”
A Facebook user said: “Nearly hit it on my motorbike as it came out of nowhere, on Bury Road at bottom of Lomas Lane.”
“This has made me laugh,” said another.
It is not the first time an emu has escaped onto the roads of East Lancashire.
In December, police found two escaped emus that were wandering the streets of Rossendale.
Members of the public and a farmer helped police return the birds to their rightful owner.
