Several East Lancashire schools are closed today (January 17) due to the icy and cold weather conditions.

One school is also closed due to flooding.

On Tuesday, snow fell across the county leading to travel chaos and school closures.

Schools across Hyndburn, the Ribble Valley, Pendle and Rossendale, remain closed today.

Temperatures are set to dip as low as -5°C across the county today

    A spokesperson said: “School closed due to adverse weather and icy roads and conditions around school”.
  • Bradley Primary School, Nelson
    A spokesperson said: “Dangerous ice on roads, pavements and paths around school”
  • Higham St John's Church of England Primary School, Higham
    Closed due to flooding. Part school closure for Sycamore and Oak Classes (some Year 4, 5 and 6 classes.
  • Lomeshaye Junior School, Nelson
  • Marsden Community Primary School, Nelson
    A spokesperson said: “There is dangerous ice on roads, pavements and paths around school”
  • Nelson Mcmillan Nursery School, Nelson
  • Pendle View Primary School, Colne
  • Reedley Primary School, Burnley
    A spokesperson said: “School is closed due to extremely Icy conditions. Pavements and road are treacherous. We cannot guarantee that we can get children in and out of school safely.”
  • St Joseph's Catholic Primary School, Barnoldswick
  • St Joseph's Roman Catholic Primary School, Stacksteads
    A spokesperson said: “School closure due to hazardous ice surrounding the school and on the premises”.
