Blackburn-raised comedian Lee Mack has hinted that his BBC show may be coming to an end after 16 years.

Lee, who lived in The Centurion pub on Higher Croft Road while growing up, hinted that Not Going Out could end after its 100th episode this Christmas.

In an interview he said his team and the BBC are “having chats” about its future.

Speaking to a national magazine about the show he said: “We are doing the 100th episode this Christmas.

“We, and the BBC, are deciding and having chats [about its future] so we will see. 100 is a lovely and round number though, isn’t it?

“I can confirm that I won’t be doing 200 [episodes].”

Not Going Out, produced by Richard Allen-Turner and Jon Thoday and created by Lee Mack, focuses on Lee Mack's character Lee, an unambitious lodger who spends most of his days on the sofa or in the pub with friends.

The only motivation and drive to get Lee off of the couch and active is to pursue the girl of his dreams.

Set during the span of several years the sitcom shows how Lee evolves from a sofa-dweller to a family man.

The show first aired in 2006 and has spanned 13 seasons.

Lee recently won a National Television Award for the quiz show he hosts, The 1% Club.

It won best Quiz Game Show at the NTAs, and he collected the award on behalf of the show.

The show beat Michael McIntyre’s The Wheel, Richard Osman’s House Of Games and The Chase Celebrity Special to claim the publicly-voted prize.
