A man has died after falling from a bridge onto the M65 carriageway in the early hours of this morning.
Police received a report of a concern for safety at around 2.55am on Tuesday, September 5, and were called to the scene.
The man, who was in his 30s, fell from the bridge over the M65 between junction 10 and junction 11, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A road closure was put in place for three hours as police dealt with the incident.
A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: “We were called at 2.55am today to the M65 at Burnley to a report of a concern for safety.
“Very sadly, it was found that a man in his 30s, had fallen from a bridge on to the carriageway. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
“Our thoughts are with his loved ones at this sad and distressing time.
“His death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be passed to HM Coroner in due course.
“The motorway was closed for some time as part of our investigation but has now reopened.”
