The designer store Flannels is set to open in Blackburn town centre.

The clothing brand will take up the spot vacated by Tessuti in the Mall which announced nationwide closures of its stores earlier in the summer.

Flannels offers ‘high brand’ men's, women's and kids' clothing and shoes at its 65 stores across the UK.

The Frasers PLC owned shop will launch this weekend and staff had been busy laying out the store interior this week, replacing Tessuti which was also part of the Frasers empire.

Recently, the town centre welcomed its first Waterstones book shop at the location of the former WH Smiths. It is the only dedicated book shop in town.

The new opening will come as a big boost to The Mall Blackburn which was acquired by the Adhan Group last year and had seen two major retailers close on the same stretch.

The Mall also welcomed hairdresser ‘Just Cuts’ back to the centre under new ownership.

The hair salon, which offers walk-in appointments for men, women, and children, officially opened on Wednesday.

The Mall said: “To celebrate their grand opening, all Style Cuts will be at the special price of just £16 (normally £23) for the rest of August and look out for our competition.”

Just Cuts is located on Market Way next to TimePiece.

Lancashire Telegraph:

The news comes during the week when Blackburn town centre braces itself for the potential loss of one of its biggest and most well known stores – Wilko.

The brand has been unable to find enough emergency investment to save it from entering administration, putting its 400 shops and 12,500 workers at risk.

The stores will stay open for now and staff will continue to be paid.

The prime location, formerly taken up by British Home Stores is opposite the Marks and Spencer store in the town.
