Food hygiene inspectors have rated three eateries in Blackburn with Darwen in the latest round of inspections.

Examining food handling, the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building and management of food safety, inspectors have rated two eateries a five out of five rating, and one eatery a one out of five food hygiene rating.

Panda Express, at 77 Duckworth Street, Darwen was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on March 20.

The inspection report states the eatery is good in all areas.

Domino's Pizza, at Unit 2 Royal Retail Park, Infirmary Road, Blackburn was also given a score of five after inspection on March 15.

The eatery’s inspection report states both the management of food safety and the hygienic food handling are very good, and the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building is good.

At the other end of the scale, Naafiah, a takeaway at 81 Victoria Street, Blackburn was given the score of one after assessment on February 13, the Food Standards Agency's website shows.

The inspection report states the hygienic food handling is generally satisfactory, improvement is necessary for the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building and major improvement is necessary for the management of food safety which looks at the system or checks in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat, evidence that staff know about food safety, and the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in future.

It means that of Blackburn with Darwen's 200 takeaways with ratings, 113 (57 per cent) have ratings of five and just one has a zero rating.
